Test Print
A small print, often of selected crops, made to evaluate colour, tone and sharpening before committing to full size.
In depth
A test strip containing the most critical areas — a face, a shadow, a bright highlight — at final print scale answers questions a whole reduced print cannot, because sharpening and tonal decisions depend on the actual output resolution. It uses a fraction of the paper of a full-size trial.
