A book is a form in its own right: sequence, pacing, scale changes and the double-page spread all carry meaning that a wall of prints cannot. Practical constraints shape it — the gutter swallows the centre of a spread, page count must usually be a multiple of eight or sixteen, and paper stock affects the whole reading experience.
