A fixed white balance setting named for a common lighting condition, such as daylight, cloudy, shade, tungsten or flash.

Presets are approximations — 'daylight' is typically 5200 K and 'shade' around 7500 K — but their consistency is their strength. Fixing a preset means a sequence of frames shares identical colour, so a sunset genuinely warms as it happens instead of being neutralised frame by frame by automatic correction.

Locking the daylight preset through a sunset sequence lets the colour progress naturally from yellow to deep red.
