Looking up makes a subject loom, conveying power, scale or threat, and it simplifies the background by replacing clutter with sky or ceiling. It also introduces converging verticals, which reinforces the sense of height. In landscape, dropping the camera close to the ground enlarges foreground detail dramatically.
