Minimalism takes simplification to its conclusion: one subject, one or two tones, and a great deal of nothing. Because so little is present, every remaining element carries enormous weight and any imprecision — a slightly tilted horizon, a speck of dust — becomes glaring. It rewards patience and precise framing above all.

A single dark post in fog against featureless grey water reduces the frame to one shape and one tone.
