Lens Correction Profile
A stored description of a lens's distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberration, applied automatically during processing.

Profiles are measured per lens and often per focal length and aperture, so correction is far more accurate than manual sliders. Modern lenses are increasingly designed on the assumption that profiles will be applied, accepting more distortion in exchange for better sharpness and smaller size — which is why some files look noticeably different before and after correction.
Examples in practice
Applying the profile for a 16-35 mm zoom straightens visible barrel distortion and restores two stops of corner brightness.
