A sharpening method that models how the image was blurred and mathematically reverses that blur.

Where unsharp masking simply exaggerates edges, deconvolution attempts to undo a known point-spread function — the blur signature of the lens, diffraction or slight motion. When the model matches reality it recovers genuine detail rather than faking it, at the cost of being slower and more prone to ringing artefacts.

Deconvolution recovers usable detail from a frame softened by diffraction at f/22 that unsharp masking only coarsens.
