Standard glass reflects about eight per cent of incident light and blocks little ultraviolet; museum grade is coated to reflect under one per cent and to block around 99 per cent of ultraviolet. Acrylic is lighter and safer for very large pieces but scratches easily and can attract dust electrostatically.

Museum glass makes a framed print appear almost unglazed, at several times the cost of standard glass.
