Dye Ink
Ink whose colourant is dissolved in liquid and absorbed into the paper's coating.
In depth
Because the dye penetrates the coating rather than sitting on it, dye prints show excellent gloss uniformity and a wider gamut on glossy paper, with vivid saturated colour. They fade far faster under light and are vulnerable to humidity and ozone, which confines them to short-life output.
Examples in practice
A dye print on glossy paper shows richer reds than a pigment print but visibly fades within a few years on a sunlit wall.
