Also called a solution, a homogeneous mixture disperses one substance through another at the molecular or ionic scale, so particles are smaller than about 1 nm and never settle. A single phase is present, and a beam of light passes through without scattering.
Examples in the real world
Salt dissolved in water, stainless steel (an alloy of iron, chromium and nickel), and the mixture of gases we call air.
