Self-Inductance
The property of an electrical conductor or coil whereby a change in current induces an opposing electromotive force in the conductor itself.

Inductors resist sudden changes in electric current by storing energy in their self-induced magnetic field (E_mag = ½ L I²). High self-inductance produces strong back-EMF during rapid switching.

Choke coils and filter inductors in AC power supplies preventing rapid high-frequency current ripples.
