Null Vector

A vector having zero magnitude and an arbitrary or indeterminate direction.

A null vector results when equal and opposite vectors are added (A + (-A) = 0) or when a vector is multiplied by zero scalar. It satisfies additive identity in vector spaces.

Examples in the real world

The net force acting on an object in static equilibrium is the null vector F_net = 0.
