Magnetic Flux

The measure of the total magnetic field passing normally through a specified surface area.

Magnetic flux quantifies the total number of magnetic field lines passing through a surface. A time-varying magnetic flux induces an electromotive force according to Faraday's law of induction.

Examples in the real world

A 1 Tesla magnetic field oriented perpendicular to a 2 m² surface area wire loop producing 2 Webers of magnetic flux.
