Tethered Shooting

Connecting a camera directly to a computer so images transfer as they are captured.

In depth

Tethering gives immediate review at full size on a calibrated screen, which is why it is standard in studio, product and fashion work where a client is present. It also delivers files straight into the catalogue with metadata applied, and allows the camera to be controlled remotely — useful when it is fixed on a copy stand or in an awkward position.

Examples in practice

An art director reviews each frame on a large screen seconds after capture and requests adjustments immediately.
