Batch Rename
Renaming many files at once using a template built from metadata, sequence numbers and fixed text.

In depth
Batch renaming applied at ingest is what makes a naming convention practical, since doing it by hand is impossible at any scale. Templates typically draw the date from EXIF and add a sequence number, and the operation should be done once — renaming files already referenced by a catalogue risks breaking those links.
Examples in practice
Two thousand files are renamed from the camera's own numbering to a dated convention in a single operation.
