Embedded Colour Profile
An ICC profile stored inside an image file, telling any application what its colour numbers mean.

In depth
Without an embedded profile, software must guess — and almost everything guesses sRGB, so a wide-gamut file without a tag displays desaturated and flat. Embedding costs only a few kilobytes and removes the ambiguity entirely, which is why it should be enabled on every export intended for anyone else.
Examples in practice
An untagged Adobe RGB file uploaded to a website appears noticeably duller than the same file with its profile embedded.
