Colour Management
The system of profiles and conversions that keeps colour consistent as an image moves between camera, screen, printer and web.
In depth
The chain has three requirements: every device must be profiled, every file must be tagged with its space, and every application must actually honour those tags. Break any one and colour becomes unpredictable — which is why a calibrated monitor alone does not guarantee matching prints if the printing stage is left unmanaged.
Examples in practice
A managed workflow means a print pulled from the printer visibly matches the image on the calibrated screen beside it.
