Processing that eliminates coloured fringing along high-contrast edges by realigning or desaturating the offending channels.

Lateral aberration is a scaling error, so it can be corrected almost perfectly by resizing the red and blue channels relative to green. Longitudinal aberration is a focus error and cannot be undone geometrically, so processors instead desaturate the characteristic purple and green fringes — an effective cosmetic fix rather than a true correction.
