Titration Curve
A plot of pH against the volume of titrant added during an acid–base titration.
Unit
Dimensionless
In depth
The curve begins gradually, passes through a buffer region where pH changes slowly, then rises almost vertically at the equivalence point before flattening again. The height and position of the vertical section determine which indicators are suitable.
Examples in the real world
A strong acid with strong base gives a vertical jump from pH 3 to 11; a weak acid gives a much shorter jump.
