Analysis carried out to determine the amount or concentration of a species in a sample.

Results may be absolute, as in gravimetry where a mass is measured directly, or relative, as in most instrumental methods where the signal must be calibrated against known standards. Every quantitative result should be reported with an estimate of its uncertainty.
