Actual Yield

The mass of pure product actually isolated at the end of an experiment.

Actual yield is measured after the product has been separated, purified and dried, so it always falls short of the theoretical value. Common losses include incomplete reaction, competing side reactions, material left on glassware, and product remaining dissolved in the mother liquor after crystallisation.

Recovering 4.6 g of calcium oxide where 5.6 g was theoretically possible.
