Resultant vectors are computed analytically by summing orthogonal components (Rx = ∑ Ax, Ry = ∑ Ay) or graphically using vector polygon tip-to-tail addition.
Examples in the real world
A boat rowing East at 4 m/s across a river flowing North at 3 m/s has a resultant velocity vector of 5 m/s at 36.9° North of East.
