Nuclear Reactor

An engineered facility in which a controlled self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction is maintained to generate thermal energy for electrical power generation.

Utilizes enriched fissile fuel (U-235 or Pu-239), a neutron moderator (water or graphite) to slow down fast neutrons, control rods to absorb excess neutrons, and a coolant system to transfer fission thermal heat to steam turbines.
