A figure of 0.75× means the finder image appears three-quarters life size. Larger magnification makes manual focusing and composition easier but shrinks the eye relief, which matters to spectacle wearers. Crop-sensor bodies quote magnification against their own format, so a 0.95× APS-C finder is optically similar to a 0.63× full-frame one.
Examples in practice
A 0.8× finder feels notably more immersive than a 0.7× one, and makes manual-focus lenses meaningfully easier to use.
