A phone sensor gathers perhaps a fortieth of the light of a full-frame camera, so almost every visible quality comes from software: multi-frame stacking for noise, exposure fusion for dynamic range, and depth estimation for simulated background blur. The results are genuinely excellent within their envelope and collapse quickly outside it, particularly in low light with moving subjects.
