Isomerism arising when an anion inside the coordination sphere exchanges places with the counter ion outside it.

The two isomers produce different ions in solution and so give different precipitation tests, which is the simplest way to distinguish them. Their colours and conductivities also differ, since the ligand set around the metal is not the same.
Examples in the real world
[Co(NH₃)₅Br]SO₄ gives a sulfate test, whereas [Co(NH₃)₅SO₄]Br gives a bromide test.
