SCORES

SEBI's online complaint redress system, through which investors lodge and track grievances against market intermediaries.

How it is identified Test: the complaint concerns a SEBI-registered intermediary or listed company and is filed on the SCORES platform after approaching the entity directly
Unit qualitative

In depth

SCORES gives investors a formal, tracked escalation route rather than depending on an intermediary's own service desk, and entities must respond within prescribed timelines. The process requires first raising the complaint with the entity, then escalating if unresolved, with a further review mechanism above that. Complaint data by entity is published, which makes the volume of complaints against a broker or fund house a public and comparable data point. Since 2023 an online dispute resolution mechanism sits alongside it for matters requiring adjudication rather than redress.

Worked example

A broker fails to credit shares after settlement and does not respond in a week. A SCORES complaint puts the matter on a tracked timeline, and the entity's response becomes part of its published complaint record.

This entry explains what “SCORES” means. It is not investment advice and not a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Any numbers above are illustrative, not live prices, and nothing here predicts price direction or rates a stock. Consider your own circumstances and consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser before acting.
