Spherical Mirror

A curved mirror having a reflective surface shaped like a section of a sphere, classified as concave (converging) or convex (diverging).

Governing formula 1/f = 1/v + 1/u, f = R/2
SI unit m

In depth

Concave mirrors focus parallel incident rays to a real focal point $f$; convex mirrors cause parallel rays to diverge as if originating from a virtual focus behind the mirror.

Examples in the real world

Concave mirrors used as dentist examination or makeup mirrors; convex mirrors used as wide-angle vehicle side-view mirrors.
