Megawatt RF generators launch waves via external antennas. Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH, ~170 GHz in ITER) and Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ICRH, ~50 MHz) transfer wave energy directly into particle gyromotion.
