Intensive vs Extensive Properties

Extensive properties scale linearly with system mass or size (doubling system doubles property). Intensive properties are independent of system size.

Examples in the real world

Dividing a room in half halves the total volume (extensive), but leaves air temperature and pressure unchanged (intensive).
