Finite Potential Well

A quantum potential well model with barriers of finite energy height V₀.

In depth

Unlike the infinite box model, the finite well supports a finite number of bound states (E < V₀). Particle wave functions decay exponentially inside the barrier walls rather than dropping abruptly to zero, permitting quantum tunneling.
