A saturation control that increases less-saturated colours more than already-saturated ones, and usually protects skin tones.

Vibrance is a non-linear saturation adjustment: it does most of its work where there is room to move and tapers off as colours approach the gamut boundary. Because skin sits in a hue range that is specifically damped, faces stay natural while a dull sky or a muted landscape gains intensity.

Vibrance at +40 brightens a flat overcast landscape without turning the model's face orange.
