LED panels are cool-running, efficient and battery-friendly, and bi-colour and full-RGB units can change colour temperature or hue without gels. The specification that matters most is colour rendering: cheap panels have spectral gaps that render skin and fabric badly no matter how the white balance is set, so CRI and TLCI figures are worth checking.
