A fixed-lens camera styled like an SLR, offering a very long zoom range from a small sensor.

The extreme zoom ratios — sometimes 60× or more — are only possible because the sensor is small, which keeps the required focal lengths short. That same small sensor limits low-light performance and depth-of-field control. Bridge cameras occupy a genuine niche for travel and wildlife spotting where reach matters more than image quality.
